RTM4820
Intelligent Shelf Manager Rear Transition Module |
HIGHLIGHTS
- Supports Single or Two Redundant IPMI-Based Intelligent Shelf Managers
- Rear Panel Includes Two Sets of I/O for Two ISMs:
- Out-of-Band Ethernet Port
- DB-15 Telecom Alarm
- RJ-45 Serial COM Port
- Provides ISM-to-ISM Out-of-Band Ethernet Link, Eliminating Dependence on Fabric Boards for Redundant ISM Synchronization
This single slot, 6U module provides rear panel access to the I/O functions of one or two CPC7301 Intelligent Shelf Managers (ISMs) with capability to support out-of-band networking directly between the two ISMs. The RTM4820 is compatible with Performance Technologies’ line of 12U and 7U Advanced Managed Platforms™.
The RTM4820 routes cabling out the back of a system for a redundant pair of ISMs. For each ISM, it provides access to the out-of-band Ethernet, the DB15 telecom alarm connector and the RJ-45 COM port. It allows for system troubleshooting and servicing without disrupting the active ISM, which enhances the reliability and availability of the system, particularly while running diagnostics and conducting maintenance.
The ISM-to-ISM link allows redundant ISMs to synchronize state information without relying on connectivity to network switches. The ISMs can synchronize relevant information, such as event logs and specific settings, and provide watchdog services for fast failovers in case the active ISM fails.
Each ISM has three Ethernet ports:
- In-band link to the CPSB fabric in the chassis.
- Out-of-band link routable through the front panel or out the Rear Transition Module.
- Out-of-band link that connects redundant ISMs together. (This Ethernet port option is available with the use of the RTM4820.)
