GSM Signaling Platforms

Performance Technologies has many years experience designing and building SS7 platforms that support Global Systems for Mobile communications (GSM) wireless roaming applications. GSM is the most popular and fastest growing wireless communications standard in the world, with almost 700 million global users.

Performance Technologies uses its own in-house SS7 stack and application experience to provide SS7 signal processing and network interworking to support GSM roaming applications. Such applications allow customers to complete calls that are outside their home territory. Performance Technologies has built roaming platforms that are used by some of the largest national and international carriers throughout the world. With T1, E1 and V.35 access interfaces and optional onboard protocol conversion capabilities, these platforms are capable of functioning in virtually any international network.

GSM Signaling Platforms are generally configured in redundant pairs functioning as small carrier-grade STPs with an adjunct server supporting a carrier's wireless application. Global Title Translation (GTT) is available if required. The platforms have a capacity to reliably handle up to 48 SS7 links on a pair of chassis platforms, and can be expanded to support up to 96 links if required.

GSM Signaling Platforms are targeted to GSM roaming brokers or large carriers looking to offer enhanced roaming services to other carriers or to their end users. While there are many uses for our GSM Signaling Platforms, two common applications include:

• Dual IMSI translation: Allows larger carriers or roaming brokers to offer GSM roaming to other carriers or affiliates.
• GSM/WLAN authentication: Allows GSM operators to offer high-speed Internet access to their subscribers.
