Advanced Managed Platform CompactPCI® Insertion Method Support Page
Objective
This document was created to provide guidance on how to insert a CompactPCI® (cPCI) board that complies with the PICMG 2.0 standard into a PT cPCI chassis.
Safety
- This document does not intend to take the place of the User’s Manuals for any component in your system.
- Please refer to your User’s manuals for all safety information related to connecting and using this equipment, as well as detailed information for the configuration, programming, or usage of the specific elements of your AMP platform.
- Follow all the safety rules described when installing any hardware into the CompactPCI chassis enclosure.
Installation Instructions
- Determine if your board/slot combination supports hot swap. If the combination does not, disable chassis power before proceeding.
- Prepare the board by opening the injector/ejector mechanisms.
- Slide each blade into is appropriate slot into the corresponding top and bottom mounting rails and towards the backplane while gently keeping the board handles pushed outward.
- While pushing the board, ensure that the extraction levers are aligned perpendicular to the card flange in the unlocked position and that the board connectors are aligned with the transition card connectors.
- Carefully push the CompactPCI blade into the guides until the injector/ejector mechanisms engage both the top and bottom retention bars.
- Simultaneously push in the CompactPCI blade and rotate the injector/ejector mechanisms to their closed positions (rotate inward) to seat the midplane connectors.
- Ensure the CompactPCI blade is well seated into the chassis and the front panel is aligned with the rest of the cards in the chassis.
