Signaling over IP
Traditional circuit-based SS7 signaling is being replaced by IP-based SIGTRAN and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) signaling as carriers evolve their networks to packet-based IP.
All SEGway™ STPs, Signaling Gateways and IP-Edge products are IP-ready and have the processing capacity and architecture to allow carriers to deploy high capacity IP signaling links (SIGTRAN - M2PA/M3UA/SUA/M2UA) in addition to SS7 links. The flexibility to support all types of signaling ensures a smooth transition and simple deployment.
As TDM and IP networks converge, carriers need to ensure that the investments they have made in services and applications can be leveraged across both domains. SEGway SIP Signaling Bridge provides carriers a path forward to deliver ubiquitous services across disparate network technologies without the need to replace and replicate service delivery platforms (e.g. CNAM/Freephone, Number Portability databases) within each domain.
At PT, we pioneered IP-based signaling with our unique SEGway Link Replacement SS7 over IP transport products that allows carriers to establish SS7 connectivity in remote areas or over quality impaired IP-networks.
Applications include:
SIGTRAN Signaling
All of PTs’ SEGway™ products offer complete flexibility in the choice of SIGTRAN interfaces from M2PA and M2UA to Signaling Gateway protocols - M3UA and SUA. Learn More
SEGway™ SIP Signaling Bridge
Networks are going through an evolutionary phase from SS7 TDM to IP SigTran and ultimately to IMS and SIP signaling methodologies. Learn More
Link Replacement
Based on IP-based SIGTRAN/SCTP protocol, Link Replacement is a SS7 over IP transport solution that "tunnels" SS7 messages across an IP connection transparently. Learn More
