IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) Home Subscriber Server

The IMS home subscriber server (HSS) is the central subscriber database for next-generation IP and GSM networks. It is part of the evolution of the HLR as part of IMS standardization. The HSS design usually follows a distributed database model serving both IMS applications (CSCF) and GSM applications (HLR). HSS's are generally designed to support multiple subscriber types including VoIP, Wi-Fi, GSM/GPRS and 3G mobile subscribers. Managing one profile per subscriber dramatically reduces network complexity and operational expenditures, allows a single source for a subscriber's provisioning, and enables new, intelligent call routing.

What products do we provide for this application?

The IPnexus®  Application-Ready System is an ideal foundation for building an IMS home subscriber server. This platform configuration includes:

Packet-based Platforms: Bundled with the industry's broadest line of 10/100 and Gigabit Ethernet switches, comprehensive shelf management and high-density power supplies, these platforms give equipment manufacturers and system integrators the basis to go beyond five-nines availability while handling the high-performance computing requirements of next-generation, packet-based systems.

Single Board Computers: High-performance, standards-based application processors designed for carrier-grade telecom and Internet applications requiring exceptional processing power and high availability.

T1/E1/J1 Adapters: Complete line of high-performance T1/E1/J1 products provides the ideal development platforms for today's communication and networking applications. Empowering these hardware platforms is a complete offering of enabling software and middleware solutions including our NexusWare® Linux® distribution and WAN Protocol Software (Radar Receiver, X.25, Frame Relay, etc.). This combination of hardware and software from a single supplier was created to ease your integration efforts and allow you to concentrate on applications.

Storage Blades: Customers can create a highly reliable, secure and managed IP storage solution for a fraction of the cost and space of traditional SAN approaches. These storage solutions provide standards-based disk access using iSCSI, NFS and SAMBA/CIFS, and offer up to 500GB of total storage per board, and additional 120GB with RTM.

Signaling Gateway Blades: For companies building/developing 3G MSC nodes based on standard CompactPCI® hardware, the Signaling Gateway Blade can be used to fulfill the SS7/IP interworking function.

Enabling Software: NexusWare® , our Carrier Grade Linux®  distribution.
