Application Example: Radar Data Extraction

What is Radar Data Extraction?

Radar Data Extraction entails the receiving radar signals from surveillance radars, the decoding of various radar formats, and the transmission of that information to a variety of display mediums in digital form.

Critical to effective Radar Data Extraction is the timely receipt and transmit of the information, the proper decoding of data and the ease of distribution of data to locations either locally or remote to the radar site. Therefore, Ethernet/IP has become a transport method of choice to ensure accurate and scalable radar data configurations.

What products do we provide in this application?

The Radar Receiver Software WAN Protocol Kit provides the critical software elements required to quickly develop radar data extraction applications. All of our WAN protocols adhere to a common application programming interface (API) for simplified application development.

Our Radar Receiver Software supports a wide variety of radar formats:

  • CD-2 (or FPS 117)
  • Marconi 10-Bit
  • ASTERIX (or Alenia, Selenia, Ericsson, RDIF, RAMP)
  • Thomson-CSF (or TPR1000) and Thomson-TVT2
  • Toshiba
  • TPS-43
  • Modified Eurocontrol
  • General 18-Bit
  • NEC Radar Extractor
  • TPS-75
  • Raduga-2

Performance Technologies' WAN Protocol Suite includes:

  • Radar Receiver
  • Synchronous Bit Stream Interface (SBSI)
  • X.25
  • Frame Relay
  • HDLC (ABM/LAPB, LAPD, NRM, SDLC)
  • Asynchronous Data Transfer
  • TADIL-B
  • Development Tools and API

WAN/LAN Data Communications Servers: Robust, standalone WAN-over-IP communications devices ideal for bringing serial data streams, such as radar, to your local area network for accurate distribution to display devices.

Synchronous/Serial Adapters: Adhere to the PCI specification for inclusion in communications servers. They too are ideal for bringing serial data streams, such as radar, to your local area network for accurate distribution to display devices.

Performance Technologies' WAN protocol architecture is designed to preserve the customer's software investment:

  • Multiple protocols can run concurrently on any of the Performance Technologies communications hardware
  • All of Performance Technologies' WAN Communications products allow for portability of applications from one communications hardware product to another
